First few art classes since third grade have been so much fun!
The week started out with a task party, where ideas were drawn from a basket, and I had to complete whatever was on the paper. I made a hat from a plate, a doily and some fabric. It allowed me to create original art, as well as take some risks and have some fun with it. I was able to try different materials and just leave it up to chance to see what worked and what didn't. Afterward we reflected on summer work from the students in AP. This allowed me to reflect and observe the art that the other students had created, and give them some feedback (even though they know much more than I do). The final assignment we had was to enlarge a piece of Picasso's Guernica, and then collectively create the painting together. This helped me a lot with artistic behaviors, for a was able to develop the skills of shading and enlarging, which I had never done before, but also allowed me to communicate and collaborate with others when we put all the pieces together at the end like a puzzle. I did learn a lot this week and I believe that it has been a great start to the class.
