First blog post of the year! After taking Studio Art last year, I decided to take AP Studio Art this year, and it has been a blast so far. This summer I developed a few new skills and also took some risks by attempting some pointillism and other styles that I had not tried before. When school started, the class created "Hive" projects, creating little honeycombs of themselves. This allowed me to really communicate my personality through my art. After, I began the first major project of the year, which was activated negative space. During this project, I really communicated through my art, being able to tell a story with the cut up magazine pieces. The class also did a critique of these projects, allowing us to reflect and collaborate on our pieces. I am going to return to this project as I am not quite finished yet, but now I am working on another “activating the negative space project”. This time I manipulated the canvas of a paper bag to take some risks with my art. Now I am going to create my own original art by drawing from life onto the manipulated paper.
